I have an '86 GT with a 5.0 with a ton of bolt-ons and am looking at swapping motors this winter. I want something with 4-bolt mains. I have a Powerdyne with an 11 psi pulley. I want a strong reliable motor and am looking at the DSS 331 or 347 setup. I want a forged rotating assembly and preferrably 4 bolt mains. I have heard of some reliablity issues with the 347. My brother has one in his '66 but it is NA. Any thoughts? Pretty set on 4-bolt main and all forged. Yeah it's expensive, I know, but it's my baby and wanna do it right.

Sounds like you will have to buy an aftermarket block. Not just a rotating assembly. That being said I don't think that it is a necessity to go and get a 4 bolt main block. You can build a reliable 2 bolt main engine.

Get a 4bolt 351 from the junk yard, or aftermarket 351 block. I have a 347 now and wish i went 351 setup as 408 or 427.

I was looking at the block, too. I plan on doing some racing, but not a lot. Still trying to decide on what to go with.

Not sure if I want to go with something quite that big. This thing is plenty fast for me right now and is also a daily driver.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
