i have a 331 stroker (street fighter kit) withh dual valve relief pistons and forged internals in a stock block with a stud girdle. the heads are tfs trick flows. i want to put a supercharger on it, my question is what compression, cam, intake, fuel injectors should i run for 10 to 14 psi. it is a daily driver car but work isnt that far. still have a/c and power steering. im looking to get over 450hp at the tires. closer to 500. i know the block is the weak link and i havent looked yet to see what the next block up is.
i am looking at superchargers on ebay and found a couple for $800 to $1500. and what is the methanol injection??

I don't have a lot of blower experience but I can share a thought
or two with you

With those heads and other better flowing parts ... you are gonna be asking
for quite a lot at 14 psi ... especially for a daily driver.

I would seem to me .......
you would have to pulley down a good bit to make 14 psi

I also wonder if that free flowing combo combined with 14 psi is gonna
put all those nice parts at danger or will you be below block splitting
territory with your horse power level.

As for inj size I would say ... at least ... 42 pounders ... maybe larger

As I see it ... you should be at 325 to 350 to the wheels with correct
combo parts selection ... WITHOUT ... the blower.

Since you say the application is daily driver ............

I'd go less on the aftermarket parts and more on psi
or
Go more with aftermarket parts and less with psi

I'd not try to go more with both as you will certainly be in danger
of destroying the parts due to the block letting go

A daily driver has to be reliable or you will be left ... hoofin it

the thing i dont like about blowers personaly is that it takes power to make power.

500 at the wheels with 15% powertrain loss is 575 at the crank.

add in what the blower takes to turn and your probably looking at over 650 hp total power or more

There are lots of guys that make over 500RWHP with a 331 and blower. I wouldnt push over that much with a stock block, but it is doable with not necessarily an aggressive tune. Eades made 550 with his combo and the Meth. kit running RICH on 42's.

I just traded my body kit for a barely used Meth kit. Even if you dont use it to make the amt of power you "could" make, definitely doesnt hurt to have the air temp coming in a lot cooler. I would shoot for 8-10 lbs TOPS with a stock block and good flowing components. When purchasing a used VOrtech, I would have a little money set aside in case you need to have the bearings and stuff done. For about $700, they redo the internals and re-warranty it for another year. I had that done on mine.
Good Luck!

I wouldn't run that kind of power in a stock 302 block but thats just me. I want it to be around for a while. The girdle will do a great job of keeping your parts from falling out onto the street when it does blow but it wont make it stronger. Save the weight and ditch the girdle.

compression - i wouldn't go anything over 10:1, but 9:1 would be good
injectors - you'll be good with 42s for a while.
cam - either go to FTI or get a blower oriented cam
intake - anything that will flow good. since you have the trick flow heads, i would get a trick flow intake to keep it matched.
block - i feel safer with the internals that i have but the block is still stock, so that is the weakest link. There have been plenty of people that have run 600hp on a stock block and gotten away with it, then there have been others that blow it at 350hp. i say just get a nice safe conservative tune.
meth inj - a chemical intercooler designed to cool the intake air the way an intercooler would generally work. takes a lot more tuning to get it optimized. i've had mine sitting for almost 2 years now waiting to go on.

yea 450 at the tires is good. one of the intakes i was looking at was the bbk. it looks cool but that dont mean it works. an intake and cam is the next step so i can get it closed up.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
