I have a freshly rebuilt 302. I have decided I want to build a 331. I have the crank already do I have to chane the rods and pistons or can I reuse my stock rebuilt stuff.
THe crank rods and pistons are different. A 331 uses a 5.4 rod with a 3.25 stroke. I believe that the stock 302 crank uses a different stroke, but im not sure what it is.
Yes you need to change the rods and the pistons. You need to bore the block to .030 over stock. Also you need the shorter rod 5.4 or else the piston will go through the head. You get more stroke comming down not up. Also if you dont decide to bore it, it will be a 328 CI or some thing close to that. But I hope I helped you out.
