Parts to work with:
351c(stock)still runs 70000,miles and C6 out of 70 Torino shift kit

9inch 4.56gears mini spool
91 ford mustang V8 rolling chassis
or maybe someone has done a swap and can give me some tips. Iam new to Fox body mustangs please help me with some insite on this combo. My goal is to make a budget drag only racecar(money alittle tight). I am not aiming for 10's but maybe high 13's w/drag radials and drag shock suspension. Thanks alot in the mine time I will search the site for more info.

The first thing to think about is weight, start with getting the suspension and brakes setup first. Then start thinking about the cost of the cleveland vs a windsor engine. They are both small blocks in theory but the cleveland weight is about as much as a big block of it's time. You could go with the new boss 302 block and use edelbrock's new heads for the 351C engine. edelbrock now has an intake for this setup as well. You can get the bottom end for the engine through summit, they have budget 306 or 347 kits and are a hell of a lot cheaper than trying to source and afford the go fast parts for the cleveland. next is the weight of the transmission the C6 is a very heavy tranny. with the windsor setup you can use a C4 and save all that extra weight and may come out with a stronger unit than the C6 depending on who you go with to supply it.

they make a swap kit. Mounts, oil pan, headers its around 700 bucks I believe.

The heads on the clev. is what id look at. If its a 2v or 4v head. If its a 4v headed motor you better be ready to spin 9000 rpms to make power.

A C4 should bolt up to a 351C, as well as an AOD. However, the hp, and rpms, would mean the trans needs to be race prepped. For lots of money, you can significantly reduce the weight by going with CHI intakes and heads. www.tmeyerinc.com may have what you need. Good guy to talk to, IMO.

I would go with the Cleveland you have, hopefully it is a 4V headed motor, stroke it to 408, beef up a c-4(not expensive). Run the 4Vs but replace the valves if they are stock, the 2 piece valve in the 351C love to come apart which has a bad effect on your wallet, set up decently people get into the 10s on Cleveland/Fox combos. You do not need to rev it to 9000 to get power, sounds like a greeat project!
