Compression is low on 351's make sure you have pistons to bumb that up to make more power.

i believe the "standard" 351 in later model vehicles were rated at 210. i have no idea what torque ratings they had.

check with smokedya, he's got a 351 and i think it dynoed at 319hp.

put a bigger intake and heads on and it will destroy a 302.

You'd be better off spending a few bucks on some aluminum heads a decent intake and high flow exhaust and enjoy that extra 49-cid.

The cam is key!! When selecting make sure you get a cam that has a power band anywhere from 4,500rpm and no more then 6,000rpm. They don't like to rev as high as 302's due to the longer stroke especially stock bottom end.

is the porting something i can do myself? if it just involves porting opend from 70mm to 75 mm i can do that, but im sure theres more to it. if so what should i expect to pay to get it ported?

Im going to get a rebuild kit of course for bottom end. and sug. on type of pistons to go with, going to be bored .30 over

302 parts make 302 power. Go with 185 heads or bigger and definitely a bigger intake. Trickflow makes some good 351 intakes.

Just save your time and money and do a 408 that will make power and can be set up to run on your EFI system. I have seen some sweet sweet combo's w/ 408's in them.
