351 or boss

ok well i can either get a 351 or i can get a piar of clevland heads for the 302 and i was wondering if i got the clevland heads what woudl i have to do to get them on there and do they make a fuel injected manifold for that....thanks

I played with the same idea a few years back.
I never found an aftermarket manifold.
All the racers I talked to said the same thing, the cleveland heads flow very well, but there is a low end power loss that is very tough for a street car to handle.
As for getting the heads on the windsor it is fairly standard stuff for most machine shops. The Ford Racing catalogs used to have instructions in the back, but I have not checked in the recent catalogs for this.

Obviously, I went with the 351.

Maybe Cleveland heads would be good on a 351w? I never considered that option.

I would go with the 351.

The cleveland heads were great back in the day but the new technology is that much better. The just wonder how great the cleveland motors would have been if the aftermarket would have ever really did anything for them. Also I hear that they are really high rpm pieces which would mean they would be best for racing.

go with the 351.....i have a whole cleveland motor, and i have a 331 stroker , i have toyed and priced the idea of having the cleveland heads modified to fit the 331....it would cheaper and more cost effective for me just to gow with a set of afrs......You have to modify the water jackets on the heads to match up with the block. Go witht the windsor!

+1 go with 351 and get a good set of aluminum heads! go with AFR's or TFS

drill water passages in the face of the intake surface because the cleveland is a dry intake no water goes thru and a couple in the bottom where the head and block meets bush proformance makes a manifold to adapt and edelbrock has new cleveland alum heads out that feature 2v ports and 4v closed combustion chambers the stock heads to look for are the austrailan cleveland head u can get these from some of the classic mustang dealers they feature the 2vports/4v chamber! the only clevelands that have problems with low end torque are the 4vs!!
