ok guys i started a 351 swap a long time ago and never got around to finishing it. well i had a 1989 truck 351 gave to me today and i think i have a problem. this truck is the old 351 firing order and has a flat tappet cam.

how do i get this thing to the 5.0 H.O order? i know how to get the plugs swapped to H.O. (swap wires) and i know i will need a H.O designed cam to accomodate the firing order but all H.O cams are desinged for hydrollic roller motors and my engine is designed for a flat tappet cam. so now what?

i thought about just using a flat tappet cam and keeping the firing order non H.O. but i cant because my injectors fire in a H.O. style so i would have a non H.O. cam non H.O. firing order and my injectors still be set to H.O so what do i do?

HELP............

its the cam that makes it h.o. order, not the crank and all that, swap in a decent roller cam, lifters(you might have to get the link lifters) get the 351 dist, drill out teh heads and yer golden....

I think there are some flat tappet cams that are h.o. order. let me lookie here...

351order and 302ho order is the same 13726548 no need for camswap , doesnt matter if its roller or flat tappet, run what you got and you'll be fine. from what i remember 93 up windsorblocks were roller ready blocks so the block you got might need drilled for roller conversion. if you're not picky just run the flat tappet.

his is an 85 or something not a roller for sure, I think just get a comp cam for flat tappet would be easier, than all the roller conversion crap, and cheaper....

this truck is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 i double checked it. now im even more confused.

and what exactly do you mean run what i have? i have a b cam for an H.O. motor. will it work with flat tappets lifters too? i was under the impression you needed a hydro roller for an cam designed for an H.O. motor

are you sure its the standard 302 order?, what year is the 351W IN QUESTION?

like i said before if its older than a 93 351w block its non roller so you cant use you're b303 cam. not unless you want to drill holes for the spider assembly and buy the retrofit lifter assembly to run it. but thats more work that i'd want to do. if it was me i'd sell the b cam, get a edelbrock rpm flat cam for a 351W and go from there.

its in an 1989 f150. but its a carbed motor with wires spliced everywhere so i KNOW thats not the factory motor. that year is EFI anyways. has a crappy fuel pressure regulator in the supply line to. dead give away.

so you are saying all 351's flat tappet or hydro lifter are 13726548 and alls i have to do is get a flat tappet cam for a 351 and im good

run what you have, firing order is the same. dont change the cam unless you are after a perf. cam. if thats what you're after then change it, otherwise dont mess with it.

jegs has a new style of 351W Crower "beast Cams" just a thought http://www.jegs.com/i/Crower/258/15903/10002/-1/962950|10707

or you could go with an edelbrock rpm http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL-7182&autoview=sku

either one is pretty aggresive and will give lope, just your option on which one you want
