Will a 351 W fit into a 65 coupe? I want to try to keep the engine compartment stock... no cutting shock towers... just plane jane slipping in...

yea it fits. It'll require special headers but you can find them for not too expensive. A definitely great swap for us 1st gen. guys.

summitracing.com has i think 4 sets from different places. all depends on what you want to spend. I think the ones i was looking at were 750 for coated long tubes.

They had more budget friendly though too.

The headers I have in my 68 said they were for a 351w swap in 65-73, though even in my 68 they are kind of tight. They're really not that bad though.

These are the headers:

Everyone i have talked to said no. They drop down at the wrong angle, i think right into the steering box. if your going to all the trouble of dropping in a 351, just buy some headers.

Just get the Heddman's. I think the model number is 88660 or something like that. They're relatively inexpensive and perfect for a drop in. also if going with a manual transmission they're nice for routing a cable clutch setup from what I've heard.

See post #6. And yes, they work fine with a cable, at least with my Ron Morris kit.
