I had always been under the impression that you had to run shorter pushrods in a 69/70 351W due to the shorter deck height.

But the other day I was browsing the summit catalogue and was surprised to see all of the 351W pushrods being advertised as fitting 69-78 engines.

What's the deal? Am i wrong in assuming you need shorter pushrods due to the shorter deck height?

There are a lot of things that affect pushrod length. A deck hieght difference of .020" is not much difference when talking pushrods. The best way is to measure. I ended up at 8.150", which I think is slightly shorter than stock, but gives a good pattern on the valve stem.

8.2 seems to be the standard for the 351 w. My 351 is a roller block with windsor jr heads and roller rockers. I used 7.5
