Like i said, i think it's a bit optimistic. But on the other hand there's more to it than just EFI stuff....little things like the fact that i have aluminum bumpers on my car, also little things like smaller quarter glass that weighs less....after you factor up a bunch of little things they may very well equal a few hundred pounds, but i don't think it weighs less than 2800.

It wont even way less then 3000lbs.!

well my 86 which is much like the 85 with a fiberglass hood and doors and hatch aswell as lexan glass in the hatch wieghs 2994lbs. Yes I have a 351w in it and 8 point roll bar. I have none of the efi supporting stuff since it is carb'd. Computer gone so is all parts of the wiring harness that had anything to do with the efi setup. I think at basically 3000lbs with all the light wieght stuff I have even 2800lbs would be a stretch for the 85 stang.

You are so right.....why did i even bother? It's only a 5 speed coupe with no spare tire or jack, no trunk sound deadening anything, aluminum bumpers on each end, no options under the hood, manual everything on the interior, factory cutout hood that weighs less than a figerglass cowl (i've compared the two)...not even a stereo....this thing is a TANK, i bet it weighs 4k lbs

That was without me in it. It was wieghed at a 1/4 drag strip on there drive on scale. I hopped out of the car and into the shack with the scale read outs. I took pictures of the wieght. It is in a scrapbook my wife made for me. She does a book for me for all my mods and drag racing. Will be nice to look at when I'm old and my grandchildren are on my knee.

I've never weighed it...you just seem a bit underknowledged on this one. I've never read that any coupe before '87+ weighed over 3k lbs. Reading of course is different than the real world but i bet you anything my car doesn't weigh 3k.

I was kinda surprised at how much my car wieghed. I also stripped the sound deadening stuff from mine. My car stereo was stollen so I don't have that either. I believe there has to be about 80lbs in 8 point rollbar though maybe 100lbs. The 351w has got to be atleast 100lbs heavier then the 302. So perhaps yours could be close to 2800lbs if no rollbar and the 302 wieghing less now that I think about it.

I could maybe see a fully loaded GT with power everything weighing 33-3400lbs, but there's SO much more to that car than mine. Ground effects, AC, power interior, heavier seats, heavier glass, hatch back glass, and then if it's an AOD then that's more weight plus the trans cooler, all the emissions junk....my car has none of that.

Just the interior alone weighs more in a newer Fox than the 4 eye interiors.

Stock they all were! I think 79's were the lightest!

The earlier cars were lightest because they had less sound deadening and safety bs. Also you might take notice that the bumpers on my car came from a '79....also i wasn't arguing anything about stock weight.

my 82GT was about 3,280 without me in it, with a big sub box(two 10's), half tank of gas and full interior, no power options or AC, smog equipment gone and heavy exhaust added

I wouldn't have it any other way

I had a cheap stereo in it just for some kind of tunes but it was so crappy that i took it out, i'll just jam out to the exhaust. Sometimes i think it would be nice to have power windows though...just because it's a pain in the ass to climb over and roll down the passenger side.

Modular2v i can't tell if you're serious of sarcastic...lol.

Just for kicks i'm gonna see if there's a place local to have it weighed. That is if i can drive it there with the lifters crapped out on me.
