I can't decide between 393 and 408...(351W block) which do you think i should go for?
What stroker kits do you guys buy? I see a lot out there and don't know which is best...
And i was also thinking about a Dart block...

Dad has a 393 in his 91. Isn't done yet, but should go mid 10s on motor, mid 9s on a bottle.

If your going to go with a dart block might as well go on a punch it out to a 427-454.
If its just s street motor might as well save your money put it in a late model block get a decent scat or eagle 4340.

yea a 427 does sound good but what stroker kit would you guys recommend? D.S.S. Racing has some...there is PAW 427 kit, RPMMachine.com has some Dart block kits... I don't know what brand is best. Do you guys have any input on some brands?

434 Dart based stroker, CNC ported TFS High ports, sheetmetal intake...

I'd go with a CHP or DSS kit if it were me. Both build high quality engines and their costs are relatively the same. CHP doesn't advertise their stroker kit costs online, but DSS does.

If your on a budget, and trying to reuse stock rods, and stock 302 pistons, then go with a 393. Otherwise go with a 408+

A 393 utilizes a 4.030" bore, 3.85" stroke. 5.956" rod, and 1.608" compression height piston. It uses a 2.300" crank journal. The 5.956" rod is a stock 351 Windsor rod. The 1.608 piston is the same as the 302. The 393 is typically known to save money as compared to the 408. A 393 can also be created with a 6.200" rod, with a different compression height piston.

A 408 utilizes a 4.030" bore, 4.00" stroke, 6.250" rod and a 1.250" compression height piston. It uses a 2.100" crank journal, which has less friction.

The 393 moves 3,850 fps at 6,000 RPM.

The 408 moves 4,000 fps at 6,000 RPM.
