OK, I finally figured out WHAT causes me to go into low charge (and run lean).
It is when my lights and fan are both running. Now the question is why. I only have a Black magic fan and silver?? head lights. (plus a 300 watt amp w/capacitor).... any ideas? I replaced the regulator already with no change.

Thanks...I know this is geting old to everyone else because it is old to me.

Ditch the underdrive pulleys or get a smaller pulley for the alternator. It needs to spin faster to keep up with your electrical load.

My alt pulley is 1 3/4 in...barely get a socket in it. I think it is a "over drive" it came in the MAC Power and Amp pulley set.

Might have to ditch the pullies (although you might want to keep the overdrive alternator one) in order to handle the load...

I KNOW I am not the only one running UD's with this type of set up...are my lights pulling THAT many amps? At 2000 rpms my needle still wont move up. (1 line below level). Everything was good until I replaced the light bulbs with the silver star or what ever they are called.

Have you tried switching in some stock lights? If that doesn't help I'm gonna have to go with everyone else and say ditch the pullies. Sounds kinda weird though, I've got a 1000 watt amp w/no capacitor, black magic fan, and insanely bright fog lights. If I have all of these running it drops to about 1 bar below level, slightly worse if the heat is on full blast. But it kicks back up to level if I hold it above 1200 RPMs or so.

I think I'd have to go get a 160 or 200 amp alternator if I wanted to switch back to underdrives though.
