3G alternator needs a new bracket?

alterstart has good alternators (the ebay ones too). You can buy it from their website, www.4alterstart.com your gonna have to search on their site a little to find the alternator, the layout is kinda bad. I think the 160 Amp 3g Alternator is $129.00 or so. For the wiring kit tho, i would run the standard legnth one from PAPerformance.

Ive ran 2 alternators from this place (alterstart) and have the wiring kit from paperformance as well, no problems with either.

That (paperformance) 4g wire upgrade kit includes the inline fuse (180) I believe...and it comes with the stator wire also...it comes with everything you need and everything works together...

I agree! That's exactly what I did. Got a 150 amp alternator from Alterstart, but I didn't like their "wiring kit". The 4 ga wire is too short to reach the starter relay, and it did not include an inline fuse. PA Performance's kit is perfect.

A fuse should be rated for about 150% of the maximum, continuous load you expect on the circuit your protecting. 200 amps is good for a 150 or 160 amp alternator.

No. The PA performance 4g power wire upgrade kit does not come with a stator wire. It comes with a inline fuse which is 200 amp not 180 amp. When you purchase the alternator from Alterstart, it will come with the stator wire, so there is no need to worry on acquiring that. I just got the 160amp chrome alternator from alterstart last week and it comes with the stator wire. The power wire is shorter and doesn't include a fuse from alterstart(they claim you don't need a fuse:shrug: ), that's why i bought one from PA performance(cost a little more though).

Hmm...considering I bought a paperformance alternator with the wire upgrade kit...I think I know if it came with a stator wire or not...

It came with one...

Yes after double checking it is 200amp inline...

Yep get the long because the starter relay is on the opposite side of the alternator and it will easily reach with slack from one end to the other...I put mine around the battery/underneath the radiator brackets (in front of radiator for factory look) and wrapped it around to the alternator and ziptied the rest of the "slack" together...

Here is the difference between the Premium and standard...I got the Premium Long if I recall...

Premium - which is made of the highest quality wire, with increased number of strands, electrolytic copper and bundle wrapping to reduce noise in high end sound systems while being incredibly flexible and show quality

Standard – which is made of high-grade wire. This wire offers outstanding performance, cosmetics and flexibility at a reasonable price. It looks like the Premium wire but is not electrolytic copper. Most people building horsepower only cars use this option.

Good Luck with it...

Yes yours came with the stator wire, because you bought the alternator also. But if you were to buy the power wire without buying an alternator, then it will not come with the stator wire. Usually the business you are purchasing your alternator from supplies the stator wire as in your case, PA performance and as for me Alterstart. I then purchased the premium long from PA performance. :D

Why would you pay that kind of money for an alternator? I got mine out of the junkyard for $30.00 (3g from a cougar) and it works perfectly. I figured even if I had to rebuild it, it would still be cheaper than buying a new one. Just my .02!

Anyone on here have a chrome alternator from these guys? Much cheaper than PAPERFORMANCE. Just wondering what the quality is.

Because its "new"...I payed it because I wanted to do everything right...and since they include everything you need to do the swap I preffered the ease of installation and their customer service...that is my 3 cents...
