Anyone have thoughts on upgrading to the 3G alternator? Is it really that necessary? The only extra electronic equipment I have in my car is a CD player and soon-to-be electric fan....

The short answer is, yes. Upgrade it, along with the wiring.

The stock 75amp alt is barely strong enough to handle your stock accessories, if they are all on. Driving in the rain at night, for instance.

The e-fan is going to be quite a shock to the system, so upgrading to a 130amp alt is a smart move. Some people have gotten away without upgrading the alt, but I wouldn't recommend it. Personally I am happy I upgraded mine, not only because of my fan and other electrical add-ons....I just love seeing my volt gauge stay comfortably above 13/14 even with everything running. Amp, wipers, AC, e-fan, headlights...the gauge never drops too low.

No question about it, this is one of the best upgrades you can do for your stang. Do it the proper way and you will enjoy driving without dimming lights and low voltage. If you decide to do it, there is lots of help here, just let us know.

Hmm, I never thought about doing this upgrade. I'll have to think about it.

Wait, I'll go search about it.

LOL - searching...

It is a manditory upgrade when running anything other than the factory bits. Your car will thank you.

I would definitely do the upgrade, especially with the electric fan coming
