I have searched through the forums but still cannot find the info I am looking for.
I have a 93 with the A/C and SMOG deleted, I had a knock-off of the March 30025 bracket to eliminate the stock tensioner. While this worked great for the stock alternator, I started my 3g upgrade. Everything was going smoothly (wiring, etc.) until I went to bolt the alternator up to the bracket. 1st off, the top adapter that bolts to the top of the alternator then to the tnesioner rod, it was machined for the stock alternator and therefore did not fit on the larger diameter case of the 3g alternator. I did some grinding to make that fit and thought I was out of the weeds. Next, I started bolting in up again and realized that the bottom hole of the bracket had broken completely (the bolt just goes through the hole without stopping...., cheap crap). Since I have to replace this anyway, I am trying to find an aftermarket bracket that works on the 5L, but also with the 3g. I have seen the March 1465 and though that might work since it does not use the top adapter piece, but I need to see if anyone else has done this and what was used. Are there any alternatives to the March brackets?

Thanks

You can run a 6g alt. It's similar to the 3G but the case is smaller allowing better fitament

I'm interested to see what works. I was going to use the same March bracket when I do my 3G swap. If the bottom hole was not broken would the bracket work with the 3G?

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

Mustang5L5: I've read that, the only problem is that I already have a 3g in hand from PAPerformance, so without costing me more, I would like to make it work.

Bryan83taco: The 30025 bracket would have worked fine after I ground down the little adapter bracket on the top of the alternator (for the tensioner rod). That's what makes me mad about the whole thing, if the bottom bracket had not have broken, I would have been done a week ago.

Anyway, I may go ahead with the 1465 bracket and see how it goes.
