So last night I was driving on the freeway and couldn't get the motor above 3500. I figured it was a motor problem and perhaps something was horribly wrong. I got off the freeway and let it rev up in 1st and then shifted to second at 5500. No problems at all. I can hit 5500 in 1st and second but if I shift to third the car just hits a wall. It will rev up to 3500 in 3rd, but if I powershift it takes a nose dive.

Trans was just rebuilt recently.

No I've got a 3 speed auto, and my motor is making plenty of power. I can spin second like it's my job and it recently developed this dilemma.

I guess when you used the term "power shift", that got us confused as that term generally relates to a stick shift tranny. As for third gear problem, I'd take it back to whoever rebuilt your tranny.
