I took my car to the track for the first time last night and was dissapointed to see it could only run a best of 15.3 at 89.5mph. If i put in 4.10s would i be able to pull off a high 14? Its an automatic and my only mods are ram air and a borla catback.

Yes, you should easily see 14's with the 4.10. I put 4.10 in my 97 gt a few year's ago. I had a cold air intake with a 5 speed and my best time was 13.7.

no reason to get an almost stock NPI mustang high into the rpm's that fast - 4.10's would be excessive.

I would agree. It would feel weird with 4.10's and not much power. I would recommend some more mods first. Where is the elevation and your 60' times?

Juecke - fell free to run 3.90/4.10/4.30's if you wish. Only reason i would nix 4.10's would be when you make peak power that low in the rpms and you haven't exhausted you other bolt on options yet. Anything with ported heads can benefit from 4.10's for sure

A long time ago, I mean around 2001. I ran 3.55's in my 96 4.6L 2V auto TBird. I then moved on to 3.73's. Even then I thought 3.73's was not enough gear, they were good enough for .5 drop in E.T. and a gain of 2 MPH though. Granted a TBird is quite a bit heavier than a Mustang.

With a near stock car NPI auto car, I would start at 3.73's but I wouldn't be afraid to go with more gear than that especially if you will mod the car.

The elevation is 903ft and my 60 foot times were 2.1-2.2 seconds. So if 4.10s are too much would 3.73s be enough to get me into 14s? Thanks for the replies

Save your money on the gears and do the PI swap first.
