I figure the time will come REALLY QUICK to start discussing gear ratios for the 05's. I know Fox AOD owners where thrilled to slap on 4.10's and AODE owners with their 4.10, 4.30, 4.56 N/A cars. Gears alone dramatically changed the output on such cars.

Fortunately...the 05' GTs are equipped with a 5-speed ATX. The current Hot Rod magazine states the drop from 1st to 2nd is only 1000 rpm. 2nd to 3rd only 1500 rpm. Clearly keeping the power in it's band. But- if this car is running out of 3rd at the end of the track, it kinda makes me wonder. Since gears and exhaust usually being the first mods we make... how limited will we be?

Any thoughts

no not at all.

I would say perfect all around gear

better get you some dfrag radials!!!

drag radials 4.10s and a stall I oculd see you going 13.0-13.2 on a descent track

That's a lot of gearing, do you plan to drive this car mostly around town, how often will you be racing?

I just got back from the shop where I had 4.10 installed on my 2005 GT / Auto. It made a huge performance gain as well as off the line performance.

We should have our car Monday. As soon as I get it back to the shop 4.10's and the new converter goes in. I think the 4.10's will be a perfect combo with the auto and the close ratio it has.

Automatic
Stock 3.31 gears - OD
65 MPH - 1,900 RPM
75 MPH - 2,200 RPM
85 MPH - 2,500 PRM

3.73 gears - OD
65 MPH - 2,130 RPM
75 MPH - 2,460 RPM
85 MPH - 2,790 PRM

4.10 gears - OD
65 MPH - 2,340 RPM
75 MPH - 2,700 RPM
85 MPH - 3,060 PRM

Manual
Stock 3.55 gears - OD
65 MPH - 1,770 RPM
75 MPH - 2,040 RPM
85 MPH - 2,310 PRM

4.10 gears - OD
65 MPH - 2,050 RPM
75 MPH - 2,360 RPM
85 MPH - 2,670 PRM

IMHO, 4.10s are perfect for a manual tannie GT, but are too much for an auto.

If you do a lot of highway driving and have an automatic, I'd go with 3.73s.
