You have to get something like this:

Speed Calibrator - SpeedCal at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Search function is a useful tool...

that will work or you'd have to get the tranny gear for that rear gear. i think cj pony parts has all kinds of different ones. you could try giving them a call.

Not to harp on it, but if you use any gear for anything over a 3.27, you are now using a chrysler gear. I've never had personal experience but if you use the search function you can read more about how they are prone to failure as they don't mesh 100 percent.

I can vouch for the chrysler gear part. My green GT in its old AODE had a white gear for the 3.73's out back, and the speedometer just wasn't very accurate. I eventually had problems with the tranny, it would downshift on me periodically for no reason, then shift back up. I replaced the tranny with the motor, then found the problem: the white gear on the VSS had stripped, so it wasn't spinning properly anymore. Oops.

My new tranny has a different drive gear on the tranny output shaft, so I was able to get a Ford gear that was a perfect match for the 3.73's. No problems so far.
