i need a new motor. im thinking about rebuilding my 4.6 but it really needs to make SOME power. how high of compression can i run . i was thinking 13.0 - 13.5:1? is a 5.1 stroker kit worth the money?

go with 8.5 - 9.0:1 and add boost. you will make more power

Unless u want to run race gas I wouldn't go over 11:1 n/a. Or as stated above build a low comp blower motor and go faster.

i dnt have money to put a blower or turbo on it other wise i would have done that in the first place and wouldnt have had to run it has hard and prob not blowin it up.
im pretty sure you can run 12.5:1 on 93 and than just put some cam2 in it to race it. and i know nitrous likes high compression. if you your telling me the only way to make power is threw boosting a 4.6, i think i will go to a 302 or maybe a 351

How much power you want is the main question.

We prefer lower compression and high boost too, it's the only replacement for displacement...lol

However, not everyone has that build in their budget. I say keep saving personally, but if you are ready to do something with what you have, a nice 10.5:1 compression motor with ported heads and nice cams and headers is the best idea. You will gain plenty of power, and could run a small amount of boost one day, thowing in a bit of the race juice of course.

mod motors LOVE boost. you prob wont be even close to 350 rwhp with a FULLY BUILT N/A combo. with spray you may see 500.

there was an intercooled Novi2K kit on MPH for under 4K. cant get much cheaper than that. i can tell you for a fact the 2K will make some power

Really, I am at 360 RWHP with a N/A 2V auto and it is NOT a fully built N/A combo. I don't have UDP's or a CAI or long tube headers and am under 11:1 compression using 91 Octane fuel...

The most I would go is 11.5:1 Compression on 91-94 Octane fuel with a good dyno tune. If I was capable of writing my own tune and don't have any problems occassionally fine tuning it, I would run 12:1 on 91 - 94 Octane fuel.

I call total BS. I didn't make 320rwhp on my full bolt on 4V and you're saying you make 360 on a NA 2V through an auto. Until you provide a dyno sheet and video I will say you're full of sh**

i've only seen a handful of built mod motors break 400 N/A.none of them were 2V, not saying it cant be done, but boost is SO much easier and will yield better results for the money

If that's the case you don't know what you're talking about. A stock NPI auto won't even make 200 rwhp. How is he going to gain over 160 to the wheels with just a big bore. There are guys at svt performance that have 5.0L big bores in their 96-01 Cobra's and not even making 360rwhp through a manual and 4V heads. Even if he had ported heads and stage 2 cams he won't make 360 rwhp, especially through an auto. Until I see a dyno sheet this is BS. That's why I haven't posted here in over 2 years, because of stupid sh** like this, feeding the thread starter false info.

i will bet you, he made it....... it a big bore kit, renagade racing P&P npi heads(whick flow better then almost all ported pi heads) big cams, and i think he has mid tube headers, ect.... HE REALY PUT DOWN 360RWHP, DONT BE MADE CAUSE YOUR 4V CANT EVEN COME CLOSE!!!!

good, dont post for 2 more years, we wont miss you..............

Oh, and it costs a hell of a lot more to make a beefy NA mod motor than a blown motor with more power.

As you see in this post he said he doesn't have a fully built N/A combo

You say he does. Ether way he wasn't honest with the thread starter. Also since I haven't been here in 2 years I didn't update my SIG. Well I updated and as you can see My 4V far exceeds the 360rwhp mark on stock Heads and CAMS. I apologize for being an a**, but like I said before I believe dyno sheets
