Hello,

I've got a '97 GT convert, and I was trying to make it sound better, healthy, like other cars I have had, and learned that even with good flowmasters they have a nice tone, but still very quiet, as far as "volume" goes. And I noticed there appears to be 6 catalytic converters on this car? three on each pipe, PLUS the mufflers???? that's gotta be robbing so much horsepower and mileage, not to mention making it super quiet, no wonder!!!!

My question is simple, if I remove these (I know law says not supposed to, but the car belongs to me, not the EPA) what kind of problems might I have such as computer, etc? check engine light perhaps?

THanks in advance for your help!

Bill

There are these things called Mil Eliminators that you put on your car. It tricks the computer into thinking you have perfect working cats and it keeps Check Engine Light Off

My 97gt auto conv. is pretty freakin loud. It sounds awesome! It has a drone alittle but just about every mustang does.

I have Mac long tube headers 1 5/8 into a Mac off road h-pipe (put x-pipe w/cats for emmissions) then into two Flowmaster 40's then into custom tennesse 3.5" angle cut chrome tips. I personaly think that my car is the best sounding.

i have o2 extensions with the mil deletes. when i didn't have the mils on the chech engine light would come of but no driving dangers came up. when i put the mils on i have yet for them to come up.

caution if you lower your car that big black bracket that's under yours and mine car it will the longtube headers. most company's now this now and have made changes. it took me a 1/2 hour to grind and repostion the brace.

performance wise, best choice to do other than the price. but deffinately worth the price. let me know if u need anything else.
