4.6 internals

I have a 2000 Mustang GT with a few mods. They are nothing super special, but i am planning on getting a blower in the near future. I just want to know what I will probly tear up when i do get the blower on and stomp on it by the first LS1 I see. I also would like to know how much power stock internals can handle.

My mods right now:

Vortex SQ trim blower :hail2: :hail2: :hail2:
 
please straighten me out then...
according to everything i've ever read about what i've done to my car and what it comes stock with i should have 260 stock and with my mods somewhere between 300 and 320. The Vortex will add 55% on a stock engine which is 364ish. With my mods it should be at least 400 or more, right???

As Wolfhound said, you are talking flywheel HP, we are talking RWHP. I didn't even notice that before. You will find that most people only talk about RWHP (Rear Wheel Horse Power) on this board and most other car forums. Car manufacturers measure at the flywheel and that's pretty much a BS quote since the car does not actually get all that power to the ground.

Look at my sig and you will see that for the most part, other than the long tube headers, we would have pretty much the same mods after you added the SC stuff. You can expect similar numbers to mine at the dyno. Of course there are MANY variations and you may see more or less.

I'm not all that great with guessing RWHP after mods, but I would say that you are probably putting down more like 250 or so to the wheels. I may be WAY off on that though.
 
Keep the A/F safe, timing not too aggressive, a good fuel delivery system, and 93 octane and you should be okay for a while.

I'm running stock internals right now and my car runs fine *knock on wood* :) I'm guessing you'd be around the 385-390 rwhp range with your mods....BTW, it's VORTECH :p
 
well i have to pretty much guess what i'm running to flywheel and the ground because of the simple fact that in North Dakota and the area that i live is over 200 miles away, so i do not want to find out what my car makes that bad.
Power to the ground i'm hoping for about 250-265 to the ground. I know that 15hp is a big differnce, but like i said no way will i drive that far to dino my car untill it's blown...
So as long as I don't go over 400hp to the wheels i should be alright? right?? So that would mean that i would have to cam and put a blower on my car to start rippen stuff up.
Would you guys sugest i get a better than stock cluch with power i have now or when i get a blower?
With compression that i have now with all stock internals and some bolt-ons should i be running higher than 91 octain fuel? And if i do run higher octaine won't my car "ping"
 
I have a vortech SQ and cams and made 469rwhp but I got the built motor to go with it :)

I'd say keep it somewhere between 360-400 and you should be fine...once you start going over 400rwhp you start asking for trouble...but you never know...you could blow the motor regardless of how much hp you got.
 
what do i all need to build up to beable to take the power i'm lookin for out of a blower and cams? How much does all the build up parts cost.
And speakin about cams some one please help me out because i know nothing and i mean nothing about cams other than they make your car sounds awsome, idle rough and add a load of power.
