getting ready to install the 4.6 in the 80 model, id like to know if the stock exhaust manifolds will fit, and can i use the stock steering shaft. will most likely be using the k.member from the 97 mustang, or should i use the AJE tubular style. my main concern at the moment is the exhaust manifolds.

Depends on which 4.6 I guess. I think the passenger side will, but IDK how well the steering shaft will clear on the drivers' side.

Might as well try it, it's not like it's gonna cost you any extra. Get the K member and see.

I used the factory manifolds but i also have an 03 kmember...my motor is 02 2v...im assuming ur using a 97 2v since u mentioned a 97 kmember?? I used the factory steering shaft but had to use the 02 brake master cylinder setup cause the engine sat 2 inch over on the drivers side and wouldnt clear the factory booster.....

thank you for the info. i've already performed the hybrid ign mod(which was performed when the carbed engine was in, (it was GREAT) 5 lug conversion, put in a 5.0 HO with the the injection system, including the tank, put in a 93 dash, console, 3g upgrade, mini starter, etc, etc, now i want a 4.6 with auto trans. i always try to keep the swap as close to stock as poss, cheap and reliable. i was lucky to find a smashed 97 with a 4.6. i think the k-member is ok,the guy also Gave me a smashed running 95 v6 mustang with 60k the as he wasnt sure the 97 member was ok, or if the k-members would interchange. i also want to use the hydro boost, speed control, a/c, tank, radiator and cooling fan, air filter, pcm, wiring loom, etc. now that i have the 97, i can have rear discs brakes!!!, i also have an intact 2004 grand marquis eng with 30k with a blown bottom-end due to no oil. i will do the head upgrade later. sorry to ask a lot of questions, but i have never done the 4.6 upgrade before. it seems a lot of work,
but i am looking forward to doing it, and i'm fortunate enough to have an intact donor for parts. i just want everything bone stock for reliability & financial reasons. i dont se any horsepower gains at the moment, but i just want a change.
