My bone stock 2003 4.6 GT is givin me troubles. Occasionally the car wont start without a couple tries. Some times when I fire it it will start with a cylinder layin down. At idle it's got a random miss, although under acceleration it fires on all 8. Mileage has dropped 2-3 mpg.

I've put in new plugs, ran some fuel system/injector cleaner through it, and cleaned the MAF with no results.

Any ideas?? I'm pretty new to the whole EFI late model scene.

+1 for codes, but I had the same issue on my 96' with the turning the key twice thing until last weekend when I had to drop the tank to put a new doughnut gasket in the filler neck hole I also decided to put a new fuel filter in just because it was easy to get to and the problem went away for me.

Its not showin any codes. I'll try the fuel filter this weekend. Any other ideas are more than welcome. I'm startin to have second thoughts about this modern technology.

My '02 GT has had the same starting problem since new. Sometimes it takes two or three tries to get it started. Sometimes it will sputter and die on the first or second attempt. On the third it will lazily start like it's running on 4 cylinders and be fine after it goes past 1000 rpm..

Still does it even with extensive mods (built motor, longtubes, basically everything in my sig..)

It did maybe once in every 10 starts. Always when the car was hot.
