4" backspacing for 17x8

Hi,

Is 4" backspacing for 17x8 on a 68 coupe a bad option?
I got a set of AR TT2 17x8 wheels, with 4" backspacing. I would like to know
whether they will fit before ordering tires, or will I run into clearance problems? Does anyone have the experience to share?

4.5 would be ideal. There are no 17x8 with 4 inch backspacing on the wheel and tire fitment chart.

What size tires do you plan to run? stock height suspension? lowered?

If you dont go too wide I think they will be ok. However they will rub on the fender lip before they rub on the inside.

Of course. Stupid me not to inform all data.
I will probably go for 245(or255)/45 in the back and 235/45 in front.

The rear suspension is stock, with brand new leaf springs.
The front suspension is lowered 1" (lowering springs).
Drum brakes.

They will not rub on the inside, but I am a bit concerned about the fender lip.

Im running a 17x8 TT 2 with 4in bs on my 65 coupe and it fits perfect...not sure on a 68. Running 245/45/17 drag radials.

I think the back ones might rub on the fender lip. The front should be ok.

I have a 69 and not sure if I have 4 or 4.5 backspacing, but I have 245/60/15's on the rear and they will rub if I have passengers in the back and hit bumps.

you should be fine. if not just roll the lip
