4 cyl transmission

looking to get a tranny is it possible to put in a 4 cyl transmission in an 8 cyl......

search... your not the 1st person to do it.
V8 Bell housing
Late 70's Mazda Pickup 4 banger pilot shaft bearing
Jam it in and go

i used one for almost 2 years before i swapped to a t-5z.just use the proper pilot bearing.

wat pilot bearing do i use....do i just buy the one that would go in the 4 bangers

you need to use the pilot bearing for the 4 cyl. the input shaft is smaller on the 4 cyl............

no,the 4cyl pilot bearing won't work.look on ebay or do a search.some say it's a diesel ranger or a mazda p/u bearing.the outer diameter of the 4 cyl. bearing won't fit in the 5.0 crankshaft.

did you all NOT see what my reply says right up top before you even asked?? I'll get you the Timken part number tomorrow if you need to know more info but I thought I was pretty clear about it. I got a 1978 mazda 4 banger pickup bearing and it works perfect. And correct... the 4 banger mustang bearing does NOT work because the hole in the crank is much smaller on the 4 banger which makes the whole bearing waaaay too small to go into the back of a 5.0.
