I have a T5 from an 86 turbo coupe that I want to put in my 85 mustang with a 4-speed manual. Can I just bolt the tranny right in with a new clutch and rear main seal, or do I need the crossmember off of the Turbo Coupe. Also, is a T5 from an 86 coupe a "world class"?
The clutch on my car isn't hydraulic and the one one the turbo coupe is. Can I just buy a different clutch for a T5 that isn't hydraulic? Is the driveshaft too short or too long because I would rather just get mine shortened than buy a whole new one, and about the bellhousing, will any T5 bellhousing work or do I need the same one that is on the coupe?
The clutch itself is interchangeable between hydro and cable setups, you just have to match it to the flywheel you're using. Get a 2.3 Mustang bellhousing, it's designed for the stock cable setup. Also get a stock 2.3 5spd driveshaft, you don't want to deal with shortening/balancing/welding/etc.
