4 Wheel Disc Brake Install

I was given a Wildwood 4 wheel dsic brake setup for my 65. Currently drum. Anyone have a ballpark amount that a shop would charge to install. It is supposed to be complete with everything you need to bolt it right up. I'm just not that mechanically inclined to do something like this.

$50-$85 per hour, Dont'cha have some mechanically inclined friends/club members, you could buy the beer/burgers for?? Take an afternoon with someone like that and participate in installing your brakes.
Not only is it cheaper, Ya learn somthing too.

I would do it with someone but a mechanic buddy of mine said it was too much work to do in my garage, so he passed. He only works on new cars, so I guess this wasn't what he wanted to do for a weekend. About how long should something like this take.

A weekend, maybe two if you run out of parts and have to chase them.

Ask your buddy if he can do it on the side at his work. Be prepared to have the car towed out of there if you run out of parts.

In all honesty, if he said it is to much work and he only works on new cars then he is full of it. These classics are so easy to work on compaired to the imports its not even funny. And the front brakes are a REALLY easy install. The MC might be a pain in the butt and the rears are going to be "fun" since you gota yank the 3rd member to do it, however someone with experience shouldn't say its too much work. Do you drive the car every day or is it more of a weekend cruiser ?

I just did the granada setup on the front of mine, and if you`ve kept up with my posts, you`ll know I`m newwbie as I can be. It really is as simple as turning nuts and bolts, and if you get hung up needing info, put a post up. Works for me

yeah dont take it to a shop. there are plenty of people from the california area probably close to you that might offer some help for beer or burgers. The swap is really strait forward especially if it is a kit install.

I'll help if you arrange my transportation to get there. I've always wanted to see California! In all seriousness, though, if it's not a daily driver, give it a shot. Do some searches and reading here to familiarize yourself w/ all that's involved. A key factor will be to keep your work area NEAT and ORGANIZED.

I know that there are a couple of people in the SF Bay Area, that would be a great way to get to know some people on the board if you could get them together for pizza/beer and a good time.

If you were in L.A. I would consider helping you out. It is really not that hard and would take no more than a weekend. Your average garage with a 100pc or so craftsman tool set would be able to do it.
I don't see the install being more than 500-750 depending on the shop. Call around and get the best rate with a shop you are comfortable with. It is a perfect job for teh long labor day weekend though.

I think I will just try to do it myself. Instead of tackling everything at once I will just try to do the fronts first. I am going to pull up some of the install posts here & give it a shot. I have changed many parts in the engine just never tried the brakes not even changing pads.
It is an occasional driver, so if i don't finish I guess there is no worry's. Except the wife not being able to park her car in the garage until I finish.
