for the guys who have the fox body 4 cylinder spirngs on your 99+....... how much did you cut of the coil of the springs and what was the best way to cut them?...also any pics id really appreciate so I can see how low they sit... I have the springs all ready to install ...

Also did you keep the isolators in both the front and the back?

not a 99+ but a 96 here. this is the only pic i have that really shows the way it sits. untouched stock rear springs. new fox 4cyl front springs cut one coil, with isolators still top and bottom. paired with fox spec lakewood 70/30s.

...thnx..it looks good in the front for sure..what was used to cut the springs?

Im sure there are a few people with 99+ who have the setup??????????

i used a grinder with a cutting disc on it. took me no time at all to cut them. :bigthumb:

and yes, there are aot of 99+ guys running the same setup also. i know alot of them post over on www.modulardepot.com , may try doing a search over there. im sure youll find plenty of info on them. pics too.

I've heard that on a 99+, you will get a 1.5 inch drop from factory. Also heard that you don't want to cut a 4cylinder spring cause you'll never know what the spring rate will be after, probaly good but stiffer. Most people run fox body 4cyl up front uncut and v8 fox body rear springs in the back with 1 coil cut.

well, the drop you get depends on a lot of different factors. new or used springs, with or without a/c, etc, etc. i bought mine new (which is kinda risky, some companys arent very accurate in reproducing springs), and they dropped me a lil over a 1/2". over the winter i got bored and cut one coil from them both, and swapped to the shorter fox struts. which is the setup you see above.

as far as nt cutting them, theyre a specific rate. cutting them wont alter the spring rate. and if it does, its slightly. 90% of the people who run this setup cut a coil from them.

totally up to you which you cut, and how much.

we just installed uncut fox v8 rears in my buddys car and it sits the exact same heighth as my rear with my stock springs. so if you want the rear lowered, id cut a coil or so from them, depending on how low you want it.

fronts, well, you see where mine sits with new springs and 1 coil cut. id start at a 1/2 coil or so and work up on frotn and rear. remember you can always cut more off, but you cant add it back.

is it a problem if the springs are fairly old? say over 100,00 on them?

no real problems with old springs. its just theyve probaly settled a lil more than newer ones. th eones we just put on my buddys cobra were used and off a 89 4 cyl with more than 100k on them. we cut one coil from them, and hes sittin lower than mine now in the front. just be more careful of how much you cut out of old springs.

hows the ride w/ those springs? Does the car bounce alot? I have thought about that set-up! right now i have eibach pro kit. how much if any do those springs help when racing?
