I have a '87 coupe and want to replace my 302 in it with a 5.0 and I was wondering if anyone knew if the 4R70W trannies would somehow bolt up

Send Mansonozz a PM. He just got done doing this. It sounded like a mild PITA to get it all up and going just right.

Yes it will, but you'll need a controller from someone like this...

http://www.becontrols.com/products/aodecat.htm

I plan on doing using a 5.0 H.O. and 4R70W in a 64 Galaxie.

If it won't work someone better tell my '95 F-150. It's one tough tranny. Been pulling a 5,000 pound trailer for most of the last 60,000 miles. Up to 120,000 miles now and still going strong.

Check out lasotaracing.com He has a nasty convertible with a turbo and a 4r70w. Look on the site for the tech/install articles, there is a good write up about the install and what you need.

Don was starting with an AODE car already though - that's big (let alone his dyno tuning ability to compensate for the ratios). The trans control issue is a biggie on a fox III.

FWIW, Don doesnt have the car anymore - he gave it to his son (who put a Tremec in it).
