Not really... the only real sturdier part of the rotating assembly is the crank. Well, also the fact that it has an 8 bolt flywheel, that adds some durability. But Cobras didn't get forged pistons/rods until 2003.
edit - well apparently the GT nodular iron crank is pretty durable, KenB runs one in his 10 second N/A 2V and he shifts in the 7000rpm range.
yeah... all 4V Mustang motors (excluding the automatic Mach 1s) have the forged steel crank. But the rods are still the weak points of all pre-03 cobras.
alright thanks, there goes that idea hah looking to do a rebuild all forged... is it always necessary to bore or machine the block when swapping out pistons and rods etc
