I'm looking to order a new intake but i need to know. whats a good aftermarket 5.0 intake to use without having to worry about oil getting sucked into the intake? I know i have heard horror storys about the cobra intake and i'm not trying to spend 400 to 500 dollars on some crap that's going to make my mustang smoke and use a ton of oil. So whats a good intake that does not suck oil and cause oil consumption problems.

I have the Trick Flow intake on mine... I have no complaints over the years its been there and it has performed well for the uses that my car has seen since I purchased it. I have the street heat version on mine.

I have also heard good things about Edelbrock intakes on these.

On a personal note. I now am thinking of the Cobra intake as it is more of a factory look and that is becoming more appealing for this car.

I also have trick flow (track heat) and with the rest of the parts in my combo, it seams to work great. Don't know if it's consuming oil. I don't think it is. Now you have me worried. lol.

I have the explorer version that is like the cobra. Picked it up for about 100 bucks upper & lower. no oil consumtion issue.

Any factory Cobra/Explorer or aftermarket intake will work. Your choice should be based on the engine combo and the performance level you're looking for. Any problems with oil consumption are likely to be related either to a stuck closed PCV valve, a clogged PCV mesh screen, or a missing baffle from the lower intake.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

you can either make or buy an aftermarket baffle which is where the chinese cobra intakes had issues. The explorer baffle is about the largest one you can find.
