Hey folks hopefully someone has some ideas about this. I have a 1987 5.0 converted to carbed. So i'm wiring up my car with a new harness(similar to a painless universal harness) and i've decided instead of trying to figure out how to wire it up to the existing alternator i'll buy a more appropriate one. I'm thinking one for a 1985 carbureted 5.0 would work? There are internally and externally regulated alternators, which should I go with? There looks to be three wire terminals on the back of this one ---> http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=ATR&MfrPartNumber=A7701&PartType=11&PTSet=A
One says BAT one says STA and one says FLD. The first I assume would be Battery, the second Stator, what's the third?
I'm using an MSD 6A ignition box and a distributor for a 1985 5.0 that has three wires.
ANY help is appreciated. Thanks guys.
