What's the difference? My notch has a 5.0L engine from a conv in it right now. I noticed the mounts are cracked...I don't have a problem, just called for replacements.

The guy at my good auto parts store, not morons at A.Z. said they might sit up higher.

Anybody have these side by side, or change over to one or the other?

Okay, thanks, but what was Fords point behind this? I have the vert mounts in my notch, so I wonder if I should just buy the replacements. They are only 20 bucks a peice.

I have '93 vert mounts in my car. From what I heard before, they were just a running design change/update over the mounts in previous years. I think they are supposed to be "better" but who knows what that means. More rigid/durable?

Thanks. That makes sense.

I bought a 92 GT hatchback in 2001. I put it back together and the motor mounts on that were broke. They came completely apart because the front peice of metal was just bonded to the rubber, so when it broke, it just came apart. The replacements looked the same.

Now, these vert mounts are rubber with metal wrapped around them, just like the 4.6L style mounts. If the ruuber cracks, the mount won't come apart. I replaced the LH side on the Cobra, and it made no difference in performance, ride, etc... This is the style I want to get. I think he has a pic of both up there, I might take a quick ride up there at lunch time.

In building my project should i consider vert engine mounts? would they be that much better?

Yes...I described them above. How the vert mounts are like "inner locked"...so even if the rubber cracks, the mount will not come apart like the other style hatchback mounts I had on my 92. When those were cracked, they came right apart, you could just hooked and lifted the engine right out of there.

you could also supposedly shoe horn a 351 into a fox and still use the stock hood with these.

There's a lot more to it, like intake height. I had a 351 under the stock hood but it was a carb setup with a low rise intake and a small breather.

The only motor mounts that you can buy from FORD is the convertible mounts. Back last year when i changed my engine and transmission i used the oem FORD mounts and the worked great.

That's good. They must have realized the early mounts are garbage.
