About a week ago I brought my engine up to fuel cutoff (should be 6250rpm) but before it got there I hit about 7000rpm on the tach (then I remembered my car has a "chip" according to the previous owner.. maybe it doesn't have a fuel cutoff?) anyways. I broke the #3 intake rocker arm and after replacing the pushrod and rocker arm with stock pieces, I've been having some hesitation on hard acceleration from 3000rpm and up. I've got a new cap/rotor/wires/plugs (200 miles) so I don't think it's just an ignition problem. if I bring the car up to 5000rpm slowly I don't notice any of the hesitation but if I mash it I can definately feel the car pulling then dropping off (very) momentarily then picking up again. I'd say it's 'lugging' and not surging, and I don't have any backfires. I've pulled codes and nothing relevant came up. I also feel as though I've lost a little bit of power but I have no way to confirm this. my timing is set to 12* with the spout disconnected. I just want my car to run right again! If anyone has any suggestions please send them my way.
