I have a chance to pickup a complete 5.0 from a 1989 GT.

Now I was planning on staying NA for the swap into a '65. This thing is EFI. Would be easy just taking off the intake etc, and putting on a different intake and carb???

the reason I was going to stay with a carb, is reading through all the write ups, it looks like it would be a little less work staying carb than going with EFI.

Anyways, any advice would be appreciated.....

Pretty much... you will need a different distributor (not the EFI style), too. I don't know if you plan on staying with the serpentine setup or going to the old style v-belt, but you may have to change your timing cover, especially if you go with a vintage-style mechanical fuel pump and front oil dipstick.

Thanks for the replies, looking at it, he has the full drivetrain and everything, so would be just as easy keeping it EFI......

thanks

No it would not be just as easy to keep it EFI. There is a lot of extra work to do when going EFI. I've swaped EFI to carb setup a few times now and it is easy. Puting EFI into a classic Mustang is siginificantly harder.

If you don't have plans for the efi parts I'd like to buy them from you. I've been wanting to tackle this for a while now. Or we could trade - I have a pair of Hooker super comp long tube ceramic coated headers for 289/302.

Please send me an email if you want to sell or trade; dhurt@mts.net

Thanks,

Dan
