5.0 Flywheels

ok im looking for a steel flywheel thats been lightened to some degree from stock. i cant seem to find one if anyone could point me in a good direction it would be appreciated.

u cant use a lighter flywheel with a stock engine. stock engine is balanced to 50oz flywheel.

I've seen listings for a lightweight steel flywheel from this place under XACT Streetlite and Prolite product lines, but I have no first hand experience with one.

You can use a lightweight flywheel with a stock engine. You just have to make sure it has the 50oz-in imbalance, and not the 28oz-in imbalance or 0oz-in neutral balance. The imbalance on the flywheel (and the crankshaft damper) is meant to correct for the imbalance of the crankshaft so the assembly is balanced.

Sevan, does that mean I should send my aluminum flywheel back? It is much lighter than stock, but balanced for 50oz. Maybe you can shed some light on this subject before I wreck my engine.

It if is balanced with an imbalance of 50 oz you can use it with no problems towards the engine.

getusummm, 5spd GT is correct. I recently pulled my motor out and went with a 347which is balanced to 28oz. I had to buy a 28oz flywheel and dampner. I have no experience with the imbalance flywheels.
