Does anybody else run a gear drive in a 5.0? What brand is it? Did it fit under the stock timing cover? My chains just about had it and was just wondering if a gear drive is the way to go?
Had one in my old stang (pretty sure it was edelbrock) it fit under the stock timing cover but only after I took a die grinder to it a little, it's pretty obvious where you have to clearance them. Opted to go with a belt drive with my new car though because even with the "quiet" geardrive they are LOUD as hell, got annoying.
Gear drive units are generally very accurate (no chain slop development), but very few people feel that this increased accuracy makes up for the noise.
