i looking into putting a 5.8 in my truck and i was wondering if i am running a mustang computer and put in a 5.8 do i have to do any kind of changes to the computer? or anything else?

I'm not an expert, but I think the only thing you need to do is make sure the mass air meter you are using is the correct one for the injector size you have. Other than that, I think the Mustang EECIV computer can handle it.

HOWEVER, if the truck has an automatic transmission, you need to make sure you get a computer from a car that had an automatic transmission too.

On the other hand...I'm not sure the Mustang computer is quite right for a truck. I guess it depends on the kind of driving you plan to do.

Match the computer to your application.
Mass air
trans
driving you will be doing
Wiring harness you will use would be nice but not necessary

I am currently using the cobra computer on my 408w. I think the biggest issue I have is with the egr being deleted, it makes it hard to get the timing right.

If you can get a tuner or have it tuned, things should go smoother.

To save yourself some headaches, I would find a donor truck (same year as yours) with the 5.8 and take everything from that. That way you know all of the sensors, ecm, maf etc will all work together.
If you insist on using the mustang computer, get a wiring diagram of your truck and of the mustang you get the computer from. Compare the circuits, and pin locations to be sure they're the same. If your truck is an automatic, is the trans controlled by the computer as well? Not sure about the 94 up mustangs, but most of the older ones had the AOD automatics which were not electronically controlled. (AODE is electronically controlled) So if you put the older mustang computer in a truck that has an electronically operated trans, how would the trans operate? Just something to consider.
This might be a slim chance, maybe you could find a wrecked Lightning and use it for a swap.

this swap seems to me like im going to have alot of head aches maybe i should just stick with my 302 and put on a HCI combo for some added power.

Edelbrock makes a performer intake for the truck 5.0. (96 and earlier) That, along with a set of their performer aluminum heads should wake the motor up, even with the stock cam.

I think I misread your original question. You are looking to put an efi 351w in a truck that already has an efi 302?

This conversion will be pretty easy, and will not require any special attention of the computer, although it would be nice to get it tuned.

I am not sure what is involved in swapping to a 5.8 in a truck, but I would imagine headers, oil pan, intake (lower at least, possibly upper). Most of this sruff could be found by simply selecting an appropriate donor truck.

maye be ill find a donor truck but im not going to pay big money for it maybe a couple hundred

but with the mass air conversion im wondering if i will have problems having it run off a 302 mustang computer or maybe try to find a 5.8 truck computerfrom 95-96

Using a 302 computer on a 351w will not cause any issues.

I have been using a 302 computer on my 351w and current 408w for several years now.
It is very common.
