Will 5.0's out of explorers fit into a 65 Mustang? I started doing engine search at junk yards around here and it looks like they start from $660 and up with compression readings of 130psi and up.
I don't planning on using the EFI on it, although now you mention it, I wonder how hard it'll be... So I guess it's safe to assume that pretty much any 5.0's will fit in the classics?
Yes, any 5.0 (302) engine will fit in a classic mustang as long as they have the proper motor mounts. The 302 is the same size and practically the same engine as the 289 just with a longer stroke. But, when you go to use certain trannies and bellhousing, flywheels, ect. It takes certain harmonic balancers because the 5.0 engines are balanced differently.
If you're considering going with an Explorer 5.0 and you're not going to use the Explorer acessory setup, I would be interested in buying the setup. Timing cover, waterpump, P/S pump, Alternator brackets. Need them for my V8 Ranger.
