Well

We were talking in a thread over in the Talk section about the power
potential of 5.0 and mod motor blocks.

For discussion details ... here is the link
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=675535

The discussion kinda got off track and rather than continue to go down
that off topic path in Keith's thread I started this one

David asked if I had a stock 5.0 dyno pull to put up next to the stock 3 valve
pull found in the link you see to the C&L site.

As promised
A little comparo of stock 5.0 and stock 3 valve
and
Both have stick trans

Now ... a good while back we did one where each was modified
The 5.0 is my little GT

Here is the link for all the thread discussion details
http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=575973

Just for your viewing pleasure

No prob Mr. David

I want you to be sure and keep us posted with what you are doing
with your Mod Motered Stang.

My interest in the Mod Motors is definitely growing as Ford has seen
fit to not give us a choice.

I sure would like to drive a 3 valve with some 410's.

I think that would make about 50% of my dislike for their soft low end
go away.

While it is true ... gears don't make power ... It would get you through
the dead spot quicker.

I'd also like to do a comparo of that C&L 3 valve and a stock 5.4
if anybody has a suitable dyno pull.

btw ... It would need to be a stick trans 5.4 and done on a dyno jet to
be on a fair comparison with that C&L 4.6 3 valve

I got to thinking about the 5.4
and
I may be showing my ignorance here

Can you get the bigger mod motor in anything but a truck

Seems like I was told it was so wide it did not fit in cars

Why is the 5.o hp just over 200 and the 4.6 over 250?? ,.. and the 5.0 tq drop off to nothing while the 4.6 goes until the cows come home?? I thought we were comparing 2v 4.6 and we are now comparing 3v?

great comparos as always grady

the 5.4 is a tall deck and sits up through the hood.

local guy has a lightning motor in a 98gt and he has a huge cowl hood on it and it barely clears.

i think you can get 5.4's into the 5.8 territory now.

from my perspective its still too much weight and in the wrong areas.

When you keep the hp & tq scale on the same calibration .........
You will see the hp & tq cross at 5252
and
In these examples ... they do

Yes ... I kinda switched to the later mod motors

To tell you the truth .........
I was motivated by that other members comment about more cams
making all the difference.

I had driven NA 4 cammers, an 05, and recently an 07.
N O N E of them had any low end to speak of.

I thought It might be interesting to put some next to each other.

I just did not feel right
about doing that kind of stuff in your thread Keith

anyway ......

That guy must of been talking about a 4 cammer with the blower

Who Knows
I just might have to poke around and find a pull of a NA OEM 4 cammer

Look Again ... see that link I provided to the thread where the pull came from.

You can find the details and read the original thread if you wish
