5.0's beware of FI!!!!

Was a 302 roller.... All that held it together was the intake.....(found this on fargostreet.com a forum of my hometown for cars and etc. was originally from turbomustangs'com)

This is old news, the blocks are weak, everybody knows that, 500 rwhp, they are done. Some last longer than others. I know of two that have split around here in the last couple months. One was making over 600 rwhp with a forged 347 and a girdle, one was making around 450 rwhp on the stock bottom end but ran into some bad detonation, that and before he bought the car, it had a blower on it but was removed before he bought the car. Then he put an SQ Trim on it.

This is all new to me, I was aware that the 5.0 liter blocks were practically indestructable. My roomates friend used to know a racer who ran a 300 wet shot of NOS on his stock 5.0. He said it was running low 10s. Those pictures are very shocking.

Nah, you have the 302 block confused with the 1,000+ hp capable 4.6 modular block.

Wow, I suggest you read on turbomustangs.com or the corral some and see that they are known to be WEAK. Some people get away with some stuff but ALOT dont. It's basically a known fact that if you buy a Mustang and wanna make over 500 rwhp, your block is probably on borrowed time.

There is good reading on the stock block chronicles on www.turbomustangs.com

The 5.0 is a TOUGH engine and will take alot of abuse but shear power will overcome the joke of a block. You can beat on them at over 200000 miles without a problem but trying to make 500 rwhp or more just dosent go over too well with the block.

Not just no but hell no. The 5.0 internals arent all that GREAT, they can take abuse though. Have you seen an 03-04 Cobra? People have made over 800 rwhp on the stock bottom end in them.

How much does a good 5.0 block go for? My brothers 89gt had 170,000+ miles on it and he used to race it alot.

Good block like a Dart is just under $2000 I belive. The Sportsman blocks are out there for less than half of that but people have split them too.

I have seen a few of those cobras but not riden in one yet. I was thinking about swapping a 03 CObra motor into my mustang II and adding some NOS. I heard those blowers are really loud, kinda turns me on.

Gonna be $$$$$$$ to do a swap, www.modularfox.com has some good info on modular engine swaps. I have ridden in a Kenne Bell 04 Cobra, felt pretty good to me.

Did u see the video of the black Kenny Bell Cobra that smokes the tires FOREVER! It sounds like a JET ENGINE!

I have seen a few smoke the tires/race on the street and track quite a bit around here. Quite a few modded Cobra's around here.
