Besides the fact that it looks better for a sports or muscle car to have 5 lugs than 4, what is the practical reason for the swap, if there is one? I've seen a lot of stuff break, especially in the off road circles I run in, but I have yet to see lugs rip out. Ive seen broken wheels, bent or broken axles, grenaded trannies and drive lines, blown engines, exploded transfer cases, and the occasional differential that blows it gears out the tail end, but never stripped out lugs. Unless of corse it was when somebody torqued them WAY to high, it which case they get stripped before the thing goes anywhere.
