i know its been discussed. but any way. im gettin all the stuff i need to do the front from my buddy. he said i would be better off to upgrade the rear while i do the 5 lug conversion. so my question is if i take and order rear axels for a 8.8 but get the 5 lug ones will they fit or what not. and i also plan on converting the rear to disc brakes. so to sum it up if i jus take and get my rotors calipers and get axles ordered that are 5 lug and the rest will taht work ?

You can get 5 lug axles yes, but you will need all the caliper and rotor and all that stuff from a sn95 for the rear, and some special mounting plates I think. you will also need a new master cylinder to handle the discs in the rear as well.

If you get drums out back,. you need to get stock Fox lenght 5-lug axles.

If you go SN95 out back, get 5-lug axles for an Sn95.

you can use stock mounting brakets for the rear or go with northstar brakets and use cadillac rear calipers and lincoln rear rotors. sn 95 rear axles are still +3/4 of an inch you can just buy fox length 5 lug 28 spline axles or use the sn95's, i am only using 17x8in wheels so i bought 96 axles but if you want 9 in wide you'll need the correct length axle shafts

My best advice on the rear is, if you plan on running 8 inch wide factory spec wheels just get a complete SN95 disc rear end and swap rear ends, unless you've got the gear you want in your car already, I was looking to gear down and found what I needed in the yard, killed 2 birds with one stone on the swap. Take your time with the swap, dont take any shortcuts and follow matt's advice on the site, you'll be very very happy with 4 wheel disc brakes, sure beats the hell out of the stock 4 lug junk!
