Hello guys/gals. I'm a new guy here and i'm looking at buying my first Fox body. However, it is a 4 lug car. I have some questions about the conversion since i'm new to all this.

Is a 5 lug conversion a HUGE deal? What all is involved in the conversion? Could I just find a GT mustang with 5 lugs and robb all the parts off it?

I'm also wanting to upgrade to bigger 4 wheel disc brakes if all possible. Anyone ever done this? The conversion would have to be a winter project of course.

New to all this, just trying to size up what i'm getting myself into. Thanks in advance!

You have quite a few options. The above website will give you all the info you need, plus more.. and it's pretty easy reading.

Basically, yes you can find a GT and use all the parts.. although axles from 99+ are too wide, and ideal front spindles will be from 94-95's.. Read the website and you'll be able to narrow it down.

http://mjbobbitt.home.comcast.net/mustang/5lug.html is a great site that goes through all the options. If you have all parts and a buddy you are looking at a good afternoon. I went the easy route with mine and got SVO rotors for the front and Ranger axles for the back. But you probably want the SN95 swap to get the bigger brakes with disc all the way around. We did my pals like that, it took an afternoon.

Those are great sites and I'll add this if you plan on using SN95 stuff, plan on other expenses not listed. Since you have an '89 it's a good time to consider new balljoints. Your inner/outer tie rods may be shot. It's a good idea to get SS brake lines. All this adds up so just be ready.

If you do get new ball joints get them for the 94-95. then you don't need the huge shim. You'll see

Or you could just get the FMS Lower A Arms, and still use a spacer.

if you want bigger brakes also check on Baer kits. they come with all the master cyliners and boosters that you will need to move to bigger brakes.

Hey send me a pm when you get your wheels on. I was gona go with these wheels since I havent seen them on a fox body yet. What sizes did you go with and what tires. I would love to see how they look.
