So I’m doing a 5 lug swap on my 84 5.0
Unknown spindles I just bought used the whole assembly with brakes
The only problem I’m running into is that one whole does line up with my shock but the second one is off by a hair
Already jacked it up and tries everything do I need sn95 shocks?

Common when putting 87+ spindles or SN95 spindles on a 79-86 car. One hole won’t align slightly and you may need a spacer to take up the gap between spindle and shock ears

Fix is to switch to 87-93 struts , or slightly open up one of the strut holes to clear

So struts from a 87-93 5.0 car will bolt right up to the SN95 spindles. Struts from a 79-86 (all variants) and 87-93 4-cylinder car will require a shim. The bolt holes should line right up or at least I have not had an issue with the few that I did back in the day.

All Fox cars with a Fox ball joint will require a 0.330” spacer between the top of the spindle and the castle nut. You can install SN95 ball joints in Fox control arms and then there is no need for the spacer.

I will also say that if you use lowering springs on a Fox use the Fox Struts. They compress about an inch further than the SN95’s and that will help with bottoming out.
