5 spd swap

Man, if you do a search on this in the 94/95 Tech section, you'll uncover more info than you can read in a whole episode of Desperate Houswives!

And to answer your question, yes, you can use fox body parts, however, you MUST use everything Fox to make it work. You'll also need a 5 speed computer/chip/tuning device to disable the AODE shifting commands which cause your engine to miss/backfire during acceleration.

Just get the 94/95 parts and save yourself a headache. I was going to get 87-93 parts for my car and decided against it, plus found a killer deal. Do a search for my posts and there's a thread that has all the parts you need, if there's anything missing on it, just ask me, all the parts are on my back patio waiting to go in right now :nice:

94/95 bellhousings and trannies are alot harder to find, matter of fact, everything on these cars is harder to find than fox parts.

I say, if you can find a good deal, then get the 94/95 trans and bell, but people are going to rape you on the price for both. Hell, I just sold a 95 bellhousing for 150 bucks, yes I raped the guy a little on the deal, but it is a very rare part and my price was less than most scrap yards, don't even get me started on MPS!

I've done the swap using Fox parts and there weren't any problems. The shifter location changed a tad, but once you get used to it you can't even tell anymore. And if you ever decide to thow a Tremec 3550/TKO in there, it's going to put the shifter in about the same place anyway.

What about a V6 bellhousing and trans....

MPS had a whole kit when i did it. came with everything. price went up since i did it....
MPS Auto Salvage, Inc. - Products - Transmission Conversions - TRANSMISSION CONVERSION - '94-'95,GT, AODE to T5 conversion.

you can definately do it cheaper if you collect all the parts. I'd look around your area for a u-pull it junkyard. the tranny and bell housing might be tough but everything else you can score for cheap i'm sure.

Ryan,
Can you throw out a parts list?
Will

i dont know what area your in,but i'm in california.the Pick A Parts in my area are having a 1/2 off sale this weekend.

maybe you'll get lucky and find a 94-95 gt at the JY.

try looking around for a wrecked 94-95 gt in your area, thats prolly the easiest way to go.

thats how i did it,and made money on the deal:D

good luck.

- heres what i can recall off the top of my head.
all from a 94-95 gt,of coarse.
tranny w/shifter
bellhousing
t5 pcm
upper shift boot
lower shift boot
t5 wiring harness
flywheel
pressure plate
friction disc
clutch cable
clutch pedal assembly
flywheel to crankshaft bolts
pressure plate to flywheel bolts
tranny to bell housing bolts
bell housing to block bolts

-these you should get new
throw out bearing
pilot bearing
tranny mount*i used energy suspension poly mount with no problem.
(you can also get a new clutch kit,if you have the money, plus have the flywheel resurfaced)

-you can reuse these
tranny crossmember
driveshaft*aode has a dampener on it,t5 does not.i've read people use the aode driveshaft with no problems.i used the t5 driveshaft.

the block to bellhousing dowels are the same i think.i've read that some people think they are different.
i did not change mine,no problem at all.

Chythar has a schematic of the starter interlock(?) circuit.there is a plug you have to pull out so the engine will not start with the clutch pedal not pushed in.

the swap is pretty easy, just take your time and you can knock it out in a day.

V6 bellhousing needs modification to work because V6's have 11" flywheels which put the starter in a difference location.

V6 T5's will work fine, but most junk yards want the same price for one of those as a 5.0 unit. I got quoted 500 bucks for a 3.8 T5!

I wish someone would have raped me for only 150! when i had to replace my bellhousing(cracked), the cheapest i could find was 250 from a wrecker!

Yup, there's a plug above the driver's kick panel, up a bit high. This photo is up and to the left of the clutch:

It's the connector with the blue tape on it. Pull that connector and you won't be able to start the engine until you push the clutch to the floor.
