I've picked up a Teksid short block, and I'm looking at heads/cams at the moment. I've heard good/bad about Patriot heads.. what's the latest with them? I have my D1SC, 60lb injectors, SCT 2400, Cobra tank with Focus pump and BAP, and I'll be fabbing up an all aluminum piping kit, with a large sheetmetal FMIC (24x14x3 bar/plate core).

My biggest questions concern cams, and internals.. Are the 5140 forged rods with ARP bolts, good enough for 6500rpm/550whp? Also, are the Mahle forged slugs decent? I've been informed that the stock crank is fine for my power/RPM goals.. I'm looking at Comp 270 Xtreme cams.. (Lift- .550" .550", Duration at 0.006"- 270° 274° @ 106° intake center line) and matching Comp springs. From experience, is this a decent set of blower cams? I'm not looking for anything crazy.. and I don't know much about 4.6 cams..

Is it worth if for the Patriot heads? Or, for my power goals, can I do it with stock heads?

Patriot heads are fine, I run them on my car - no way you'll achieve your goals on stock heads, they can't flow enough air unless you open the ports.

I personally use Crower Stg. 3 blower cams (Lift - .612/.612, Duration - 228 Lobe, 246 Valve @ .050), titanium retainers and high rev valve springs, all from Crower. I have a set of Mahle pistons (I believe they are 9:1 compression, if your interested PM me) but I run Probe 9:1's, block bored .035". If your gonna forge the rest of your engine, you might as well do the crank as well - it'll probably (and hopefully) be the last time you do any internal engine work on it. As far as your cam selection, a lot of people, at least from what I've heard, are happy with the Comp cams. A lot will say go with VT cams too. Not too many people I've seen run Crowers, but I never really had a problem with them.

I am using comp's stage 2 cams which are there middle of the road blower cams. My pistons are forged dished 17cc CP and my compression is 8 1/2 to 1 and I am making over 500 rwhp with a intercooler and a t trim

P1, my dyno numbers are w/o water/methanol, and maxing out 42# injectors. I don't have any new numbers with the 60# injectors @ 15 psi.

I'm hoping that the D1 makes the difference for me.. I had a P1 on the car a while ago.. but, I was told to upgrade to a D1 for my goals. I've still got my 42's and Lightning MAF sitting on the shelf.. but, I am going to put the 60's in and get a maf tweaker from Diablo, or MPH.. Not sure yet..

Im running comp xe 270's with my s trim. My original plans were to stay N/A so thats why i picked those cams. now that I have a blower I wish I would have bought some actual blower cams-my number would be a little better now if i had. Go with the crower blower cams or the vt ones. hopefully youll get the number your looking for.

So, you're at 417whp with the S-trim and the 270's? How many pounds of boost? The only reason that I bought these, is because I got them at a pretty good price.. I paid 350.00 for them, shipped, with 2K miles on the set. I then purchased the matching comp springs for 80.00 more.. So, overall, not too shabby.. I figure that even if the lobe sep isn't the best in the world, it's probably better than stock cams..

Plus they sound really good w/ the big lope It's worth it to get the whole package from them, including springs/retainers.
