New Mustang owner here. I got 98 Gt coupe a couple of months ago and am having a blast with it. I need to do some work to the inside however. The 2 fronts seats are pretty haggard. The driver seat cushioning is almost nonexistent. I'm thinking of converting the interior to all black. The headliner is black and the rear deck cover is black and the top of the dash is too but everything else is grey. $500 is all I can spend now on the seats. I live about 1 1/2 hrs from Scat out in Redondo Beach Ca so I was going to check out their Procar sportsman seats and see how they feel. Any ideas? Thanks.

try going to Subesports in Huntington Beach and check out the Cobra seats. i have a leather Cobra Daytona for my office chair, but it would have been an awesome seat in my mustang.

I would get a nice set of stock replacements. 99% of the time race seats look out of place in our cars. Really unless its a track I don't see the point. Just my .02.

Cobra does make nice seats but they are a little pricey. I will prob end up with some stock replacements, or get mine recovered. I called up a shop down in National City and the guy I talked to said he would fix the cushions and recover the fronts and back for around $750.

Look into a set of Corbeaus they are pretty decent seats and aren't to expensive especially if you are considering having your stockers recovers for 750.

I personally would like to find a set of Mach 1 seats to replace my stockers. Bullitt or 03/04 Cobra seats would be a nice touch too. If you look around enough you can find some good deals out there for those.

Get a quote from a local trim shop to have the seats re-covered.

Save $250, get one. Then save $750 more and get the other.

the only problem with the Bullitt and Mach 1 seats is they look hideous and provide no lateral support whatsoever. the stock seats in my Volvo provide more lateral support than any mustang seat excluding a cobra R that i have ever been in.

btw these seat are the most comfortable i have ever sat in.

No offense, but have you ever ridden in a bullitt or mach 1 seat? I think the exact opposite, i have bullitt seats and love them, i think they look awesome and give a nice old-school touch to the car. And i think they are extremely comfortable and offer a substantial amount of lateral support, especially compared to stock seats.

With that being said, I recommend getting a used pair of cobra, mach1 or bullitt seats....I got mine for like 560$ i think off ebay and they are practically brand new

I can't believe someone would say the Mach 1 or Bullitt seats look hideous.

i have and they suck at keeping you in, i think a folding lawn chair would do a better job. sorry that stitching pattern is horrible, i dont care what people say about heritage, that was something that should have stayed in the 60s.

Mach 1 & 03 Cobra seats have the exact same shape, just with different material. Bullitt & 01 Cobra seats have the same shape with different material. All are nice seats IMO & have more than enough support unless your car is an all out road race car....

I'm thinking about a set of cheapo ebay seats. I had one pair an they sat ice but the adjuster was junk. that was a few years ago, they look better now. I'm hoping to save some weight too.
