Got a call from slp. My car went back for more of their goodies for the 03/04 Cobra. The car made 500+ horsepower and 530+ ft lbs. This is what they did. Complete exhaust system with longtubes,x-pipe, and loudmouth cat back, MAF, pulley, Diablosport tune and KN air filter. No not the CAI from kn because that whole thing about them making 20 to 30 more horsepower is a bunch of crap! They also changed my fuel pumps and the belt. I will be picking the car up Wednesday and it will be at Maplegrove raceway the following weekend for the big Ford show at the SLP vendors spot for all to see. I also will have the dyno sheets to put up for you guys. I am sure they will also have them at the display at maplegrove.

Great #'s. How does the Loudmouth sound on the new Cobra's? I can't get
over how quiet the new Cobra's are stock. I am used to my 2000GT that sounded mean as s--t. I am thinking of getting the LM set-up on mine. I also
thought about Magnaflow, but I'm not too fond of the sound. I am wonderin'
if the Loudmouth on the new Cobra's is as loud as on a GT. I have heard it on
a GT and it sounds MEAN. I don't need it to be super loud, but I need
some agressiveness to it. Also, how much gains do you see doing headers. I
see not a lot of people doing headers on the new Cobra's because the gains
were not that significant. I am not doing a pully swap or chip because
of warranty issue. After the exhaust install, If I see 425rwhp I will be happy with that.

With the full length headers, x-pipe with high flow cats, and the cat back Loud mouth system the car made 430hp and 420 ft lbs of torque and it does sound mean as hell!!!!

Sweet. Looks like that is the set-up I am going to go with, minus the
headers. SLP Nope. Magnaflow it is.

Believe what you will but I have seen personally that they do not produce anywhere near those numbers. Read all the magazine articles you want. It is a bunch of crap!! What I learn from personal experience and seeing with my own eyes I am just relaying to everyone here so no one goes out and wastes their hard earned money on a bunch of crap. Anyone can fudge numbers on a dyno and until you personally are standing at the dyno and watch these magicl numbers pop out I would be very doubtful about those numbers kn are claiming and using the stock MAF, don't believe it. I have been very fortunate to have SLP disect and test all different combos and tunes and parts on my car and it has been one hell of a learning experience. It is funny that SLP sells alot of KN stuff and did not put one of those kits on there cobra package. I wonder why?

Go troll your GM performance parts (SLP) somewhere else. There are plenty of us around here that have the K&N FIPK/Air Charger installed on our 03 & 04 Cobra's and we know better. How much does SLP pay you to be their spokesman anyway? LOL! I bet the K&N FIPK makes more power on a STOCK SC'ed Cobra than the SLP CAI does...

Just the facts. I made more power then you with the stock air box and just a kn filter installed and all I did was remove the air sliencer. Dont be jealous. Not a salesmen either I could care less what you buy and dont. But the purchases you made were obviously the wrong ones. Does SLP make GM parts? I didnt know that. Hmmm! I also didnt think GM parts would fit on a Ford, Go figure.

Smells like a troll to me!

How would he be jealous when you said nothing about how much power your car is making? You sound like a high school punk with daddy's budget.

SLP = Street legal performance. They've been making parts for the camaro/firebird for quite some time. Similar to the SVT division of Ford, they made the Camaro SS/Firehawk models. Since they stopped making camaros and firebirds, they switched to Mustangs to stay in business.

Obviously you don't look at profiles since fastcoupe68 was probably driving mustangs before you were born.

I don't know about the K&N FIPK but I do know that a lot of the claims made by the kits on the market are indeed true...but for reasons other than most think. Many of the kits out there bias the MAF sensor to a lower than actual reading. This leans out the mixture and improves power significantly on a stock cobra since the factory tune sits way rich at around a 10.3 a/f. On a stock cobra it may even change the calculated load enough to increase ignition timing as well.

This is fine on a mostly stock vehicle but once you start modding this can cause problems. If the car is tuned properly just about all cai's will give the same gains as a simple cone filter with a shield (which is basically all the fipk is anyway).

Huh? Made more power? Compared to what? Please clarify.

Not jealous... I think 437RWHP with a stock pulley is pretty decent. My combination of parts works well together. Please show my another 03/04 Cobra running stock pulleys that makes as much RWHP/RWTQ as I do? What did you put down with just a K&N & the snorkel removed again?

Yes, they make many different performance parts for GM's! That was their "bread & butter" until the F-bodies went away. Now they are trying to sell their stuff to the Mustang crowd. You mean you've never heard of an SLP Camaro??? Here's some homework for ya....

So let me understand, I guess you ONLY buy from companies that sell Ford performance parts exclusively? You know, K&N sells parts for GM cars and even ...GASP... IMPORTS. Quick you better rip that piece of crap GM/import air filter off your car!

Sarcasm, Look it up in the dictionary. As far as a little history about myself, I am 37 have been building cars since I was 15. Professionally for the last 12. I specialize in mostly 60 and 70's musclecars. alot of the cars that leave my shop go out and take top honors in some big car shows. Also alot of these cars go out and do quite well at the drag strip. So as you can see Daddy is not supporting my go fast habit. I didn't come here to start a bitchfest with anyone just to relay info on how my 03 was making out with the mods SLP did to my car. I dont give two cents on weather you like it or dont. I see alot of guys inquire about different brands and SLP just happens to be the ones I got lucky enough to get. As I have said before they used my car to prototype all there goodies for the 03 and 04 cobras. As far as hp my car with just headers x-pipe and a cat back and just a K&N filter and the silencer removed the car made 430hp and 420 ft lbs. After they put a tune to it it made 446hp and 437ft lbs. With the stock pulley. but know I must cry "uncle" Like I said before the car will be at Maplegrove this weekend with all the dyno numbers for all to see. Come see me personally I would love to talk to anyone about the car. Also to all you magazine readers dont believe the hype. Oh yeah the car made 385hp and 398ft lbs with just an air filter and the silencer removed. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the info coupe. I am not taking anybody's side on this one. Meat,
we all respect your knowledge. I am glad to see a difference in opinion from
someone. Give's you different options and what not. By the way, I changed
my decision from SLP to Magnaflow. I decided to keep it a little more quiet.
A little older now, don't need to set off every car alarm in the neighborhood.
Everyone knows the cobra is a bad a--. Don't need it to be super loud.

hope you got a deal from the testing...one would think that SLP parts are gold plated as much as they want for them. I have ordered the MagnaFlow catback and the K&N, best bang for the buck going....

Was not a quote I stood there when they dynoed it! What I dont understand is all the doubting. What is up with that? Some other company cant come along and do better. Let me explain something I am not here to say my car is better then anyone elses, I am glad everyone is making great numbers with there cars. If I were using someone elses parts I would have come out and promoted them just the same. This car is a daily driver, driven by my wife. I dont plan on racing the car I just want to enjoy the car for what its intended purpose is, to drive it every day. As soon as I get the dyno sheets I will post them for everyone to see. I know maybe one of these rags that you guys live and die by would put it in print and then maybe you will believe? To tell you the truth I prefer my 68 coupe with a Kuntz and Co. 750hp 408 small block it is much faster and that one goes to the track. 750 hp and 2700 pounds. Do the math. Lots of fun. If you guys dont want anymore info on the SLP stuff I wont relay it here anymore. They have alot more stuff coming out for the cobras. Suspension stuff and more. They are a pretty tight company and know what they are doing and the experience with them has been great. I cant say enough good things about them. One more thing if the car did not go to SLP it would have gone to JDM another great company. I have a good friend that has done extensive work on his 03 with JDM and that car makes 650hp+ sick!!!! I have also seen that JDM just made 600hp with a stock blower, ported I believe but that is just crazy. And then there is Rich (Hammer) on the other boards who I also know personally and he is the King of cobra hp I believe he is now making over 740hp all done at JDM. So there I just did a promo for another company other then SLP. So stick the troll stuff in your azz!!!!
